Grandma and Lark

or, to be more accurate, Grandma and Lisa Maria
(yep, Grandma, I know Lark is not my *real* name! *laughing*)

Verse by Emily Matthews, on the Valentine's card I left for Grandma at her marker...

My grandma and I had a very special, wonderful relationship...as she often said, "we bonded at the time of my birth". *smile* She and I, although different in many ways, were also "soulmates" in many ways as well...we shared many of the same likes and dislikes, views and opinions, and certain personality traits as well. :) My grandmother was my "second mother", who I could always run to whenever I was sad, and who would support me no matter what...she loved me that much. She shared with me her gift of storytelling, using it as a way to pass along stories about our relatives and our heritage so that they would not be forgotten...this website is my attempt to pass some of her magic along. We shared a love for all things beautiful, especially examples of God's handiwork in nature...and we liked to listen to peaceful, "happy" (i.e. classical) music. My grandma taught me how to truly give of one's self and to care and love for others, even if you did not necessarily like them. *smile* I was also given the privilege of knowing her as a woman in her own right, not just in the role of my grandma...which is an honor I am truly thankful for.

Shortly before her passing, my grandma made a promise to always be with me when I needed her...and, being her, she has kept that promise. *smile*
Her presence is with me when I most need her, and I can still hear her voice whispering in my ear words of love and support...I am so blessed to have such a special guardian angel to watch over me always.

My heart and soul overflow with memories of the happy times my grandmother and I s shared...far too many to put on this simple page...but hopefully the pictures that follow will give you an idea of some of them...I hope you enjoy them. *smile*

~*Note: Yep, these pictures are in black and white, not because Lark is that old, but because she is still searching for the elusive color scanner. :)*~
